Business & Enterprise

Business & Enterprise at King Charles I School:

We are committed to embedding enterprise across the school curriculum, covering a wide range of opportunities for small groups of young people and whole year groups. This includes visits to Organisations/Universities and events held in school which support the delivery of financial capability, enterprise capability, economic and business understanding and work related learning.

We have engaged with more businesses to provide real-life relevant enterprise learning and offer a variety of Business & Enterprise activities which will help students to recognise the relevance of their studies to the world of work and to realise that personal qualities such as communication, reliability and self discipline are as important as academic or vocational knowledge.

Make Your Mark Challenge for Year 10 Gifted and Talented

This year's challenge was to develop a unique and inspiring idea in response to a secret brief launched online at the beginning of the day, which was based around 'Carbon Footprint'.

36 students worked in teams of six to come up with a new and innovative business idea that takes inspiration from something local. This could be a product or a service - as long as it was a 'cool' creation and made money. Students had to pitch their idea to a dragon dens style panel of judges at the end of the day.

The winning team 'Recycle Vision' came up with an innovative and green service/walk in recycling process for schools and the public. We are currently liasing with Lawrence Skip Hire and Advanced Recycling Centre for 'Recycle Vision' to present their ideas to them and to work with them to take this further.
