Eco Council

King Charles I School is proud to be an Eco School and have "Green Flag Status".

Our Eco Code:

1. We will continue to choose fruit instead of crisps (which reduces litter) and we can compost fruit waste.
2. We will continue to support charities at home and abroad, through Freedom Days, Talent Shows, and special events and in other ways.
3. We will dispose of litter in the bins provided, recycling wherever possible.
4. We will close the windows and close doors to retain heat.
5. We will do our best to respect and protect the plants and animals in our School environment.
6. Just by living, we have an impact on the earth. We are aware of this and will do what we can as individuals and as a School to minimise this impact.
7. We will waste less paper when printing in class and recycle what is not wanted.
8. We will turn off taps and report ones which drip.
9. Our school grounds say a lot about us. We want them to say that we care for our environment and about ourselves.
10. If it is safe and possible we will walk to School.

Ideas for the Eco Committee's Action Plan

Here are some pictures from when we were constructing our action plan!

CD and DVD Recycling/Fundraising Scheme

We have been approached by a company who will recycle unwanted CDs and DVDs and pay us for the items received. This is a great opportunity to recycle items in the correct way whilst raising money for the school.

What do we need to collect?

To receive payment we need to collect CDs and DVDs that have their original notes and sleeves as well as a barcode on the reverse. Unfortunately, the company will not take CDs or DVDs that have been given free in newspapers or magazines as they do not have a barcode.

Please hand your unwanted CDs/DVDs in at the Library (on either site).

Many thanks,

Eco Committee/Mrs Perry
