In our Healthy Schools week we appointed some healthy spies to observe eating habits and sporty activities that were occurring around our school, this helped show how healthy our school was, we found some excellent results and also some areas that could be improved. There were a lot of people eating healthy snacks at break and the canteen put on some healthier alternatives over lunch, however, we did notice a large variety of crisps and chocolate was being consumed by Year 11 off site.
During the week we hosted some exciting healthy activities including a rowing competition, a ready steady cook challenge for Year 13, a bike ability course that ran over the whole week for Year 9 pupils, a pre driver training course for Years 12 and 13, a come and play evening for staff and 6th form, no biscuit week for staff offering them healthier alternatives such as raisins and fruit and we are holding a smoothie competition over the next few weeks.
Overall, we found our school was very healthy and sensible when it came to choosing their meals. We look forward to improving our healthy schools status over the upcoming months. This healthy schools week had a huge impact on our school, we are now setting up a healthy schools action group, we are going to keep our healthy spies and we are going to have the healthy quote of the day on the school bulletin.
