Performing Arts Course Details:

GCSE:

Students are required to study to units. Unit One is a written paper and is worth 40%. In Unit Two pupils are assessed practically on two units; Devised Thematic Work and Acting; thus making up the final 60% of the GCSE.

BTEC Acting:

BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Performing Arts (Acting) offers students the opportunity to gain an understanding into the world of professional theatre and develop requisite skills needed to be employed as an actor.  Pupils will study a mandatory unit ‘Acting Skills and Techniques’ and two optional units;Performing Scripted Plays and Developing Physical Theatre.

BTEC Dance:

BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Performing Arts (Dance) allows students to develop technique in a range of styles and perform choreographed dances to audiences within and outside of the school environment.  Pupils will study a mandatory unit ‘Performing Dance’ and two optional units;Contemporary Dance and Exploring Urban Dance Styles.

A Level:

At Post Sixteen level students are following either the A Level route and have taken Drama and Theatre Studies or the Vocational Pathway and are studying the Level Three Subsidiary Diploma in Performing Arts.
